Colonic Hydrotherapy – intensified colonic irrigation
Colon hydrotherapy, also known as a colonic irrigation or colon cleanse, has become increasingly popular over the last 10 years as a way to detox the colon and promote digestive health.
45 to 60 minutes per session, can be repeated up to 12 times, with an interval of a few days to weeks
The form of therapy is a further development of the classic enema. It has been used to treat various diseases since the Middle Ages. The so-called drainage process helps the body to remove and excrete metabolic end products and waste products. Using a special rinsing device, water at a certain temperature is slowly drawn rectally into and out of the intestine.
The water is led through the intestinal tube with alternating pressure development. This allows the intestinal muscles to relax and loosen up. Any stool residues and hardening that may be present dissolve. A gentle abdominal wall massage can support this process. Problem areas can also be easily felt in this way. In contrast to the usual enema, with colon hydrotherapy the water and the loosened intestinal contents are also drained away via a hose. This means that there are no unpleasant smells or shame. Incoming and expelling phases alternate.
Colon cleansing takes around an hour in total. Most patients find the treatment pleasant. Many feel powerful and refreshed immediately after colon hydrotherapy. Colon hydrotherapy usually includes a series of up to 12 colon irrigation.
